The Mercedes Benz W111 is a full-size luxury car model with a 4-door sedan, 2-door coupé, 2-door convertible variants. All modes shared the 2195 cc M127 straight-six engine carried over from the earlier generation, producing 95 horsepower (71 kW) at 4800 rpm and capable of accelerating the heavy car up to 160 km/h. In the year 1961, the W111 chassis and body were shared with the even more cardinal 4-cylinder W110 and a luxury W112 version built on the W111 chassis with its body and the Type 300 series. The body of the W110 featured a shorter hood compared to the W111 model.
The Mercedes-Benz W111 Coupé range was complemented with the flagship 3.5-liter V8 engine in 1969, and the last cars were produced in July 1971. As documented in the factory build card, this European matching numbers example was built on the 24th of April 1970, fitted with the desirable options of a large electric sunroof & floor shift automatic transmission. Finished in silver with complimenting red leather interior & first delivered in Würtzburg Germany, it later found its way to Sweden in 1987 and then to Finland in 1998. The present owner bought the car in 1999 and it has been dry stored and mostly unused since. A Documented 500 km in the last 30 years indicates that the total mileage of 34,950km is correct.
